To create the music, the group were provided with a range of tonal and percussive instruments to experiment with - both freely and with facilitation by David and Oscar. The ensemble improvisations were directed at exploring feelings about the different changes that occur during the transition of Winter into Spring.

Alongside the group music-making around the ideas and moods relating to seasonal change, are foley and sound design pieces which represent migrating and emerging creatures, changes in weather and atmospheric sounds. These elements were recorded in the sessions, developed in the studio and then presented back to the group during the recording period. This was to further inspire and focus subsequent ensemble playing and also to ensure that the direction and progress of the emerging recording remained entirely a co-production.

The raw recordings were taken away by David Ross for further post production to create a flowing album of electroacoustic music that beautifully describes the subtlety and drama of seasonal transformation occuring at the time of its making. The success of the resulting composition is such that we aim to submit the work to open call competition for fixed media acousmatic music in the future.

All sounds and music were created by the ensemble.
